Urbani izziv is intended for the dissemination of new knowledge and discussion of contemporary spatial planning issues. Each issue contains contributions on various spatial themes addressed from urbanism, geography, architecture, landscape architecture, surveying, sociology, economics, and related disciplines.
Urbani izziv is a scholarly journal published by the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia through its own press, "Urbani izziv - publikacije". The journal strengthens, broadens, improves and synergises skills across planning-related research fields.
In addition to Slovenian authors, the editors strive to ensure balanced participation of authors from other countries in the region and worldwide.
The journal provides a strong publication venue for top-quality scholarly articles on spatial planning issues in Central and Eastern Europe and other parts of the world, especially where mainstream Anglo-Saxon journals are less receptive to region-specific planning topics.
The journal is published twice a year. The first issue is published in June and the second in December.
Urbani izziv is published in two languages. All contributions are published in Slovenian and English.
The journal is divided into two parts: Articles, which includes original research and review articles, and Reviews and information, which includes reviews, announcements, library information and other materials.
Articles in the Articles section undergo double-blind peer review. The journal aims for two expert reviews of every article to ensure quality and fairness.
All published material is freely and immediately available to read, share, and adapt with appropriate credit under the CC BY license. The journal is available on its website and abstracted by relevant services and bibliographical databases.
The journal is available free of charge on the Internet. Submission is free of charge, and the article processing charge is 500 EUR only after acceptance. Copyright is retained by the author.
Abstracts and full texts are included in COBISS, dLib.si, SCOPUS Elsevier, ERIH PLUS, EBSCOhost, ESCI, ProQuest, CEEOL, IBSS, IBZ, GEODOK, EZB, CGP, ICONDA, DOAJ, OCLC, AVERY index, DRJI, CORE, Virtual Science Libraries, Ulrich's, J-Gate, JournalSeek, and many university library discovery systems worldwide.
